The current storyline in Dragon Ball Super can be hard to follow with the different timelines and all. Toei Animation has tried its best to explain it all.
On the official Dragon Ball Super website, Toei Animation has designed an infographic explaining all of the timelines that have occurred. It’s in Japanese, but Google Chrome can translate it to English. We’ll also try our best to explain it too.
Future Trunks Timeline: First on the right is Future Trunks’ timeline. In his timeline, Goku and the others are dead so he had to defeat Babidi and Dabura with the Supreme Kai. In this same timeline, the Future Zamasu becomes immortal thanks to the intervention of Goku Black.
Also in this same timeline, Goku Black and Future Zamasu kill all Gods and do their zero mortals plan. After the pair land on Earth, they pretty much leave it in ruins for one year. This prompts Future Trunks to go back in time to ask for help.
This then leads to where we are now with Future Zamasu and Goku Black fighting with Future Trunks, Goku and Vegeta. The city is still in ruins although some humans are left.
Present Timeline: In this timeline, Goku beats Buu, fights Beerus and kills off the resurrected Frieza. After that, the Universe 6 vs Universe 7 tournament is held. Future Trunks then goes to this timeline to ask for help against Goku Black.
This prompts them to go to Universe 10 and Beerus suspects Goku Black has similar Ki to a guy named Zamasu. Goku and Zamasu spar which fuels Zamasu’s anger against mortals.
Before Zamasu can kill off Gowasu and go with his plan, Beerus stops the time loop and kills Zamasu off. The present timeline is saved for now. However Goku, Vegeta and Bulma are now in Future Trunks’ timeline to help him out.
Goku Black Timeline: This is the third timeline on the right of the official Dragon Ball Super website. It’s similar to the present timeline, although the major change is that Zamasu is successful in killing Gowasu.
Therefore he is successful and able to get the Super Dragon Balls and becomes Goku Black. Instead of causing havoc in this timeline, he decides to use the time ring to jump into Future Trunks’ timeline. Then the whole thing loops and we get to the spot where we are now.
This is not the most scientific explanation of the Dragon Ball Super timelines, but the infographic is still helpful somewhat. Check back with us on Sunday for our review of episode 64.
