The Fire Emblem series was once exclusive to Japan, but it has really branched out to other regions like the US ever since we were introduced to Marth and Roy in Super Smash Bros. Melee. Following up on the major successes of recent entries, such as last year’s Fire Emblem Fates, Nintendo is remaking the second entry in the series, now known as Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia, which now has yet another gameplay trailer.

Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia is a full scale remake of Fire Emblem Gaiden, which was the second entry in the series that originally released on NES in 1992 and never made it outside of Japan.

The game stars former childhood friends Alm and Celica set off with their armies on different paths, with both hoping to stop the conflict going on. This is how the setup in the game is, as you will control the armies.

This gameplay video starts off with this little bit of story information before then focusing on the gameplay side of things instead, which is very dependent on the types of characters found in said armies.

The trailer breaks down these different classes that you can use in the game, such as Fighters, Pegasus Knights, and Snipers. Like in the past, if you fulfill certain requirements with a character, they can upgrade to a more powerful class as well.

We also get a mention of the Villager class, which sounds to be the most versatile of all. By choosing a Villager, you have the ability to change to a variety of different classes, which will be interesting to try out.

You can check out the full strategy video below if you want to learn more about the game, and make sure to look out for Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia to release for the Nintendo 3DS on May 19.
