In the new God of War Sony Santa Monica allows players to change how much or how little they want to have on the screen in terms of the game’s heads-up display.  Players can choose to go for all-out immersion, the standard experience, or somewhere in-between.  Different elements of the HUD can be turned on and off, which includes the Compass, Enemy Health Bars, Boss Health Bars, Enemy Off-Screen Indicators, Combat HUD, and Gameplay Notifications.

Players can choose between three settings for the HUD:  Normal, Immersive, and Custom.  Normal takes all of these items and leaves them on.  Immersion takes all of these items and turns them off.  While Custom does exactly what it says and allows you to experiment with a level of immersion that you want.

To access the HUD menu you’ll want to press the Options Button.  Then press Triangle.  Scroll down to the HUD tab and then change the settings to how you would like them.  This can be accessed at any time in the game.

Turning off the HUD can offer you a greater challenge as things like Enemy Health Bars and indicators can make a huge difference .
