At long last, Marvelous has announced that Uppers will be coming to the West. As for the date and platforms? Sometime in 2018 for the PlayStation 4 and PC.
For those unfamiliar, Uppers is notable for being a brawler published by Marvelous, the same company who we got the Senran Kagura series and Valkyrie Drive: Bhikkhuni from. However, rather than the breasts and blades that those two are known for, this game is all about dudes fighting it out with their fists. It initially came out for the PlayStation Vita in 2016, but never made it outside of Japan.
It seemed like things were looking up when English trophies surfaced back in July 2016, but it took until two weeks ago for there to be any true signs that it would see a wider release. Thankfully, that time has come now and it looks like it will be worth the wait: not only will it be on the PS4 and PC, as mentioned before, but it will also be fully remastered in 1080p and 60 frames per second with native support for even higher resolutions. Furthermore, there subtitles will be available in English, Japanese, French, Korean, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese.
As for the game’s content, you’ll be playing as up to 13 guys on an island known as Last Resort who are locked in perpetual combat against battle hungry bandits who freely stalk the island looking for trouble, accompanied by a harem of thrill seeking girls determined to see their beaus as the victor. According to its description, you’ll be following the story of two men and their “journey to the top.”
With this announcement and the upcoming release of Senran Kagura Burst Re:Newal, Marvelous fans will definitely be having a ball at the end of 2018. Really, the only thing that would make it better is that Valkyrie Drive: Bhikkhuni PS4 port they’ve been asking about.
To reiterate, Uppers is due out for the PlayStation 4 and PC in 2018.
