It was confirmed recently that Valve Software would be getting into the hardware game. What that hardware will be exactly is anyone’s guess. Over the years, Valve has had their hands in some pretty ambitious projects, some that’ll likely never see the light of day for consumers.

With their recent release of the Steam Big Picture application, it’s obvious that the developer has plans to expand into other areas of the computer games business. According to a recent interview with Engadget, we could see Valve’s first hardware as early as next year, when at least on these pieces of tech goes into beta.

Valve’s hardware will likely be somehow integrated into the Steam experience, but what that may entail is anyone’s guess.
