GTA 6 release date is reportedly ‘locked in,’ but there’s a catch that’s going to sting your wallet

Good news and bad news.

A new report about Grand Theft Auto VI has come out online with details about when the game will release and how much it will cost. The release date news is good, but the price news is not so great. This information is not official yet, so it might not be completely accurate. However, it comes from a trusted source who knows a lot about Rockstar Games.

According to Comicbook.com, gaming insider Tom Henderson recently shared an update about GTA 6 with fans. First, the good news: Henderson says the game will launch on November 19, 2026, and this date is set in stone. This means there should not be any more delays unless something unexpected happens. If this is true, Rockstar should start showing off the game in the next few months.

Henderson also shared some bad news about the price. He says Rockstar Games plans to charge $80 for the basic version of GTA 6, following what Nintendo has been doing. That is just the starting price. Henderson also mentioned that Rockstar is planning a Deluxe Edition that will cost $100, which many people already expected.

Rockstar’s expensive editions might not offer much value

Henderson did not explain what extra content the Deluxe Edition will include. However, we can look at Red Dead Redemption 2 to get an idea. That game’s Deluxe Edition came with extra story missions, special items, and some early advantages in the game. Most of this extra content was not very important to the main experience.

Some fans might hope the $100 version includes early access to play the game before everyone else. However, Rockstar has never done this before and probably will not start now. Just like how companies sometimes deliver disappointing products, premium editions don’t always meet expectations. Offering early access would split up the player base and make the official launch less impressive.

Rockstar wants to have the biggest opening day possible for marketing purposes and to impress investors. They will want everyone playing at the same time to create maximum buzz. This means all players will likely get the game on the same day, no matter which version they buy.

The Deluxe Edition will probably just include bonus in-game items and maybe some extra missions. Whether these extras are worth the additional $20 is something each player will have to decide for themselves. The gaming industry has seen major controversies involving AI technology recently, but pricing remains a hot topic for most gamers. For most people, the standard $80 version will have everything they need to enjoy the full GTA 6 experience.
