Xbox 360 fan spends 20 years hunting down every single game, and what he accomplished is absolutely insane

That's commitment on another level.

A dedicated video game collector has completed what they describe as a full North American Xbox 360 game collection: 20 years after first receiving their console and starting their hobby. Sharing the milestone on Reddit, the collector explained that a true Xbox 360 collection requires 1,256 games. Their collection now totals 1,353 titles, including different editions and special versions alongside the standard releases.

According to Dexerto, the journey began on Christmas Day 2006, when they unwrapped an Xbox 360 and a copy of GUN. Over the next two decades, the collector tracked down every required title, often scouring online marketplaces, local shops, and gaming conventions to fill in the gaps. The final missing game, Pro Evolution Soccer 18, was gifted by their son, marking the completion of the collection.

Despite completing the long-standing goal, the collector’s ambitions are far from over. They plan to play through the entire library, a monumental task given its size. So far, they have earned 1,000 Gamerscore points across roughly 175 games and intend to continue working through the remainder over time.

The collection’s total value might surprise you

In the Reddit thread, the collector estimated that Xbox 360 games typically cost around $15 each on the secondary market, putting the total value of their complete collection at roughly $20,000. The post also highlighted the growing enthusiasm among gaming fans for retro collections, a trend often compared to the excitement players feel when a long-awaited expansion is released after a decade.

Within the collection, the most valuable game is F1 2013, which the collector estimates is worth around $250. Its rarity, particularly in the United States, has made it highly sought after by collectors and gaming enthusiasts alike.

The Xbox 360 launched in November 2005 and was discontinued in 2016. The console sold over 84 million units worldwide during its lifetime. While Microsoft has moved on to newer platforms, they continue expanding accessibility, as seen with Xbox Game Pass reaching new devices.

The collector’s 20-year journey shows the dedication some gamers have for preserving video game history. Completing such a large collection required patience, money, and lots of searching through online marketplaces and gaming stores.

Yet even with the collection finally complete, the next challenge lies ahead: playing through every single game. Beyond the accomplishment of completion, the project serves as a testament to the passion, persistence, and love for gaming that drives collectors around the world.
