Farmer Hayden Fox (haydenjfox) has drawn over a million views with a two-part series about a woman he says took corn from his field, then returned it while he was filming a video about her. What caught viewers’ attention was Fox’s amusement that the corn she took wasn’t sweet corn.
Fox’s post starts with him pointing at stalks of corn whose ears were “gone.” Standing in front of his crops, he claimed, “So I just had a lady pull on up to my cornfield in her white minivan and just start helping herself to my corn.” He said he first thought she wanted a photo with the plants because she was in a bright pink dress and heels, but she then pulled out a “huge tote bag” and started picking the corn.
Fox said he ran over, but she jumped back into her vehicle and drove away. “But joke’s on her,” he told viewers, “this is cattle corn. It’s not for humans.” Partway through the video, he stopped and appeared to spot something before asking, “…is that her?”
Fox says she came back after trying to cook it
In his follow-up video, Fox tells viewers the woman returned to the farm to drop off the corn. He explained, “She went home, cooked it, and then tried eating it. When she almost barfed, she felt guilty about stealing it and thought she would just return it without me finding out.”
Fox said he didn’t know what to do with the returned corn, since it wasn’t fully ripe, which made it even less suitable for eating. He added that people try to steal corn every year “because you can’t tell the difference until you take a bite out of it. It puts a big smile on my face, knowing these thieves get the constipation they deserve.”
Many viewers were confused about the difference between sweet corn and cattle or feed corn. Some commenters explained that feed corn is mostly used for livestock and isn’t as juicy or flavorful as the sweet corn sold in grocery stores, with users noting it often stays hard and one comparing the taste to “raw potato.”
Others explained that feed corn is often planted near roads “so people don’t steal it.” One user shared that after her in-laws stole feed corn, “they cooked it for HOURS, wondering why it never got soft,” while others described their own run-ins with thieves, including one user who said they have the same problem at their orchards.
Fox himself didn’t seem bothered by the incident. He later wrote in the comments, “I’m not even mad cause it’s kinda funny.”
Attack of the Fanboy was unable to independently verify the woman’s side of the story, as this account originates solely from Fox’s Instagram and TikTok posts.
