A traveler recently captured a bizarre, low-frequency sound echoing through the Denver International Airport during the middle of the night. It shows a user named Eddie wandering the terminal during an overnight stay. The noise appears to be a routine audio-equipment test. According to BroBible, Eddie was staying overnight when the sound carried through the Denver airport around 2:00 AM.
The building was almost empty when he moved through the train station that connects the gates to the baggage claim area. The audio in the video is eerie, sounding like a fuzzy, digital siren that wavers before fading away. Eddie could not identify the source of the noise. “Then I started hearing this loud, low-frequency sound echoing through the station. I honestly couldn’t tell where it was coming from or what was making it,” Eddie wrote in the caption.
He stayed until 8:00 AM and spent the night walking around instead of staying in one spot. A spectral analysis of the audio by the outlet shows a distinct tone at almost exactly 1,000 hertz. A project manual for a fire alarm at the Denver airport includes instructions for testing the system for distortion. These instructions mention feeding the system signals at various frequencies, and 1,000 hertz is one of them.
The noise was probably just a fire alarm test
The manual also recommends feeding pink noise into the system to ensure it is functioning correctly. This process could explain the strange, wavering sounds the traveler heard. However, the explanation is not confirmed, as the outlet said it is unclear exactly what the sound is. A commenter claimed the Denver airport runs hourly load tests on its emergency speaker circuits at a frequency people cannot hear.
The Denver airport has a reputation for being a bit unsettling. A giant blue horse statue with glowing red eyes, which locals call Blucifer, greets travelers, and the interior features gargoyles and murals that appear to depict an end-times scenario. The facility is also unusually large, as it is the largest commercial airport by land footprint in North America. Eddie said the experience made the conspiracy theories about the Denver airport feel more intense.
“Standing there in the middle of an empty Denver airport at 2 in the morning, hearing some strange frequency vibrating through the station, definitely makes all those conspiracy theories about this place hit a little differently,” Eddie wrote. He acknowledged that there could be a logical reason for the noise, saying, “Maybe there’s a perfectly normal explanation.” He added that at 2:00 AM it did not feel normal. However, he clarified that he did not experience any paranormal activity during his stay.
