A Virginia woman says she found a fly fried into a Wendy’s chicken nugget after she had already eaten two from the same order. Brina, who posts on TikTok as @brinnaaab, shared a video of the meal, which came from a Wendy’s location in Chesapeake, Virginia.
As detailed by BroBible, Brina ordered a four-piece nugget meal through Uber Eats. She said she bit into the third nugget and immediately saw the insect in the breading, writing in her caption that she was “literally sick.”
The video has since racked up more than a million views on TikTok. The comment section quickly split between viewers who were disgusted and those who doubted the fly ended up in the nugget by accident.
Plenty of viewers weren’t buying how the fly got in there
Some viewers were horrified, with one writing, “I would have died right there on the spot.” Others questioned the logistics, since Wendy’s nuggets are reportedly par-cooked, frozen, and then deep-fried before reaching customers.
One commenter asked, “Why you put that fly in that nugget?” Another questioned how the insect could appear to still be moving after being frozen for a month and then deep-fried.
Brina denied putting the fly in the nugget herself and said the apparent movement was just her hands shaking. “As soon as I bit into it, I saw the fly. It was fried that way,” she wrote.
An employee from the Chesapeake location told BroBible the incident was extremely disgusting and disturbing. The employee said the franchise would take more safety precautions, including checking the product before it is dropped and making sure bags in the freezer are secure and properly closed.
Other fast food customers have previously reported finding insects in their orders, including a Philadelphia woman who said she found a “family” of flies in a Chick-fil-A salad. Another customer reported finding a moth in a Chick-fil-A salad, while a Panera Bread customer said they found a stink bug in a salad.
The video circulated amid another viral customer complaint over a Walmart butter price discrepancy. It remains unclear how the fly made it into the nugget, and BroBible said it had reached out to Wendy’s corporate for comment.
