After 31 years of sewing dresses for her daughter, a mother created one final gown, and the reason why is what gets you

Stitched with memories and love.

Eloise Glover got married in her backyard wearing a special silk dress. Her mother Jennifer Shepherd made it by hand. This wedding dress was not the first outfit Shepherd had sewn for her daughter. She had been making clothes for Glover since she was a baby.

According to People, for over 30 years, Shepherd created different dresses for her daughter as she grew up. She made baby bonnets, teenage party dresses, and many other pieces. The wedding dress became the most important one she ever made.

After Glover got engaged, she immediately called her mother to talk about the dress. They started working on it together even though they lived far apart. Shepherd lives in Western Australia while Glover was planning her wedding on the other side of the country. Shepherd later said that making her daughter’s wedding gown was “the privilege of my life.”

This wasn’t just any wedding dress project

Making the dress took a lot of work. Glover did not want a regular white dress. She wanted the fabric to have a natural texture. Her mother knew exactly what she meant and started looking for the right materials.

Just the top part of the dress took 48 hours of stitching by hand. The two women worked so well together that they barely had to talk by the end. “By the end, we’d just look at each other and understand the problem,” Glover said. They had been working on clothing projects together for so many years that they could read each other’s minds.

Shepherd learned professional dressmaking when Glover was only 2 years old. She went to a technical school for three years to study how to make clothes. For her final project, she even made a wedding dress, but she never thought she would make one for her own daughter years later. Like many mothers, Shepherd’s dedication to her daughter went far beyond what people might expect.

Glover did not try on the finished dress until less than a week before her wedding. She felt relaxed when she put it on, but when she saw how relieved her mother looked, she started crying. They opened champagne to celebrate.

The story became popular online after Glover posted a video on TikTok. The video showed pictures of all the dresses her mother had made over the years, ending with the wedding dress. Thousands of people watched it and shared their own stories about handmade clothes and family traditions. Shepherd did not expect so many people to care about their story. She said that seeing Glover walk down the aisle felt very emotional after spending so much time working on the dress together.
