Sad news for dedicated Alan Wake fans, but Creative Director Sam Lake, of Remedy Entertainment announced that the trademark for Alan Wake Returns, is not for a sequel to the game, but a TV show within Quantum Break.

In an interview with Kotaku, Sam Lake, explained the arduous process, “A big part of the trademarking process all in all is the legalities of it. Just making sure everything is covered. So, no real news about anything future Alan Wake-related.”

Plans for a sequel to the modern day cult classic are not off the tables, as Sam Lake has made it a point to say that Remedy is constantly discussing ways to bring about Alan Wake 2. In several interviews the team has made it clear that sometime in the future, fans will be reunited with their favorite mystery novelist.

Quantum Break, releases on Xbox One and PC on April 5th, 2016. Alan Wake is planned to hit Xbox One’s backwards compatibility sometime soon, with Alan Wake: American Nightmare already available for download. My fingers are crossed for a sequel, but I’m willing to be patient so that our trip is amazing.
