Amy Schumer cleared up confusion after people saw she had removed almost every post from her Instagram account this week. The 44-year-old comedian left only one set of photos on her page, showing her wearing a red minidress and black Chanel heels. Many fans thought she deleted her old pictures because she was embarrassed about her appearance before she lost weight.
According to Page Six, the actress quickly corrected those rumors in a new post she shared on Wednesday. She said her decision had nothing to do with being unhappy about how she used to look. Instead, she explained that she has been dealing with several health problems that are now getting better.
“I’m proud of how I’ve looked always,” Schumer wrote in her post. She went on to say that her endometriosis has improved, her back pain is healing, and she no longer has Cushing syndrome, which had changed how her face looked. She told her followers that what people see on Instagram is just what someone chooses to show the world, not who they really are. To make her point even clearer, she later shared an unflattering picture of herself lying in a hospital bed with messy hair and no makeup on.
Her main goal was always about feeling better
The actress from Trainwreck wanted everyone to know she was never trying to lose weight on purpose. What mattered most to her was getting rid of her constant pain and treating her medical conditions. She also mentioned that her weight will probably go up and down since she is going through perimenopause and taking hormone replacement therapy.
Schumer has talked openly about taking weight loss drugs to help with her health issues. She told people during a talk on the Howard Stern Show that she tried using Ozempic about three years ago, but it made her feel terrible. After that, she switched to a different medication called Mounjaro and ended up losing 35 pounds without feeling sick.
The new medication has helped her in ways beyond just losing weight. Back in March, she posted on Instagram that her hair looks thicker, her skin looks better, and she has much more energy now. She even joked that she wants to have sex more often and said that Mounjaro has been working really well for her.
Schumer got married to chef Chris Fischer back in 2018, and the couple has a 6 year old son named Gene. She has talked before about how she and her 45 year old husband plan out time to be intimate instead of waiting for it to happen naturally.
At the end of her Instagram message, the comedian asked people to be kind and respectful to everyone no matter what they weigh or what their race or religion is. She wrote that she feels thankful to be strong and healthy, especially for her son.
Her words focused on encouraging self love and inner strength for people on whatever path they are walking in life.
