Some people claimed Assassin’s Creed Unity does not fully utilize the power of the PS4 and Xbox One consoles. Ubisoft says this is not the case.

Assassin’s Creed Unity creative director, Alex Amancio, was a guest on the Major Nelson Radio podcast. He talked more about the game plus the capabilities of both the PS4 and Xbox One consoles.

He says that Assassin’s Creed Unity “harnessed every ounce of power” for both the PS4 and Xbox One consoles. He claims the team did as much as they could for both consoles.

He says Assassin’s Creed Unity pushed the limit mainly because of the number of NPCs they’ve added to the game. In past Assassin’s Creed games, you would only see 200 characters on the screen. This has been bumped up to 5000 or more characters. He said there is even one scene in the game where you will see “10,000 on-screen NPCs“.

Amancio also says that Assassin’s Creed Unity improves on the lighting and shading. This will add a whole “new layer of realism” to the game that hasn’t been seen in the franchise before.

Assassin’s Creed Unity is 900p and 30fps on PS4 and Xbox One. Ubisoft announced back then this was to give the game a more “cinematic” feel.
