During last year’s Tokyo Game Show, Bandai Namco announced they are working on a brand new God Eater for consoles. We also knew at the time that the game won’t be exclusive to Asia, since the company’s US Twitter account shared the game’s teaser announcement, the picture shown above.
Since then, Bandai Namco has been quiet about the development and state of the project, until Producer Yusuke Tomizawa broke the silence on New Year’s Eve and revealed the studio’s plans to share new information during the franchise’s seventh anniversary next month. Bandai Namco’s Twitter followed up his tweet and revealed that the team is currently working hard to be able to share new details regarding the new console version of God Eater and God Eater Online.
The tweets were translated via Siliconera:
“For those of you waiting for new developments relating to God Eater, we’ll have all kinds of updates this year. First, we’re preparing an opportunity to share the word with everyone sometime around [the series’] seventh anniversary in February, so please look forward to it.”
“As producer Tomizawa commented, we’re doing our best to prepare new information to share with you all, starting with the new console project [for God Eater] and God Eater Online. Thank you for your support this year as well!”
The last title released in the main series was God Eater Resurrection, a remake of God Eater Burst. The game released back in October 2015 for PS4, PlayStation Vita and PC. It received overall good reviews from different outlets. It looks like Bandai Namco has big plans the two new titles in development, so let’s hope they rejuvenate the God Eater series and restore its former glory. The studio is also working on other titles set to release within 2017, such as Little Nightmares and Ace Combat 7.
