Even though Battleborn seems to be a long-forgotten game at this point, Gearbox Software is still supporting the game and has some big plans in the works. Before that happens, however, the game has gotten its first paid story DLC that is available to download on all platforms today.
The story DLC is called Attikus and the Thrall Rebellion and costs $5, which has Attikus taking part in the Thrall uprising on the planet Tempest. For those of you have purchased the game’s $20 season pass, you’ll be able to download the new DLC the next time you boot up the game.
There’s also a new PvP mode called Face-Off, which is a multi-phase 5v5 mode that has all players hunting down masks and depositing them for points in the center of the map. This new mode ends when one team reaches 500 points, and everyone will be able to get the mode for free.
Despite the massive drop-off of player support for Battleborn, there are rumors suggesting that the game may be switching to a free-to-play model in the future. This is a move that ended up working out well for Evolve, so Gearbox Software definitely wants to try everything they can in order to salvage their latest game.
Battleborn is available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Check out the trailer for the new story DLC below.
