The monthly cover reveal for Game Informer magazine is always something to keep an eye on, as very often they give us our first glimpse at a brand new game that has yet to be unveiled. Just now, the August issue of the gaming magazine revealed for the first time Gearbox Software’s brand new IP known as Battleborn.
Battleborn is looking to reshape the MOBA genre by utilizing a first-person point of view in an arena style setup. The game features an intergalactic setting, so there are plenty of varying characters to use in the game, such as a samurai or giant, as mentioned in the reveal article. One of the coolest aspect is that the characters you can choose from almost feel like they are from separate games, creating a unique environment.
The game will feature a leveling up system, complete with equippable abilities according to the article from Game Informer. Rather than going with the type of gameplay seen in League of Legends or Dota 2 with team-based gameplay, Battleborn infuses something extra with the addition of the first-person gameplay style.
Battleborn is set to come to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC, while being published by 2K Games. No release date or even window was given at this time however.
