A Battlefield 2042 delay from the October 2021 release date could be imminent as multiple reports from respected sources today suggest development setbacks.
The rumor mill started off with Jeff Grubb tweeted today that more delays are coming this week and following it up with a tweet that clarifies that he was referring to a singular delay for 1 game only. From there, fans speculated that it could be Battlefield 2042, Call of Duty: Vanguard, or Elden Ring.
The tweet was followed by a swarm of rumors from industry insiders speculating the game that is being delayed is in fact Battlefield 2042. @Dealer_Gaming, a gaming YouTuber, said that he is been hearing of Battlefield 2042 delay. The tweet was later replied to by @Shpeshal_Nick, cofounder of XboxEra, confirming that he also has been hearing about this delay.
Another reason that has been fueling this online rumor mill is the fact that the game is supposedly releasing next month and there still hasn’t been any public betas for Battlefield 2042. The worries aren’t exactly unfounded given the fact that EA and Dice have previously promised a beta testing phase for those who pre-order the game to take place ahead of launch and in September, and since we are already halfway through September and the release date of October 22 is imminent, this highly signals that a delay might be inevitable.
It is worth mentioning, as damning as the aforementioned evidence might be for a Battlefield 2042 delay, EA and Dice have not yet confirmed nor denied any of the rumors or reports. October 22, 2021, remains the official release date of the game until it’s confirmed otherwise by EA.
Battlefield 2042’s official release date is set to be October 22, 2021, and is currently available for pre-order on PC, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
