EA has been getting everyone back into the Battlefield mood by periodically giving away DLC from both Battlefield 4 and Battlefield Harldine for free, and that trend continues today. The company has made the Battlefield 4 DLC Naval Strike available to download for free on Xbox One for a limited time.

As for what the Naval Strike DLC is all about, it focuses more on “dynamic ocean combat in Naval Strike as the Chinese Armada takes the fight to the sea.” The DLC takes place on four island maps in the South China Sea, with land vehicles being nearly completely absent in favor of watercraft. It was the game’s third expansion pack and originally released in March of 2014.

Interestingly enough, the promotion is only available for Xbox one owners of the game right now, though the PlayStation 4 and PC versions are more than likely not far behind. This has been a similar pattern with some of the previously-released free DLC, so players on other platforms just need to hang tight for the time being.

While all of this free content is for previous games in the Battlefield series, it’s all in an effort to get the hype as high as possible for Battlefield 1. That game will be launching on October 21st for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, bringing the series into World War 1.
