If there was any question about whether Bioware’s Anthem would be a game less focused on shooting and more focused on shooting and looting, fans of some of Bioware’s best work should rest assured as Drew Karpyshyn has confirmed that he’s on board for the writing of the game.
Karpyshyn confirmed the news via Twitter and it’s gotten Bioware fans even more excited about the game.  Karpyshyn’s work is some of the best that we’ve seen from Bioware’s most popular games.  He wrote both scenario and dialogue for Star Wars: KOTOR (Knights of the Old Republic).  Karpyshyn was also heavily involved in the Mass Effect series of games.
This announcement by the writer should put to rest any concerns that Bioware is ditching their storytelling roots for a loot shooter. Â The trailer didn’t do much by way of offering any glimpses of this story, but we do know that the game will feature four-play cooperative play where players called “Freelancers” take on missions in customizable suits called Javelins that have different abilities with heavily customizable options in terms of abilities and weapons.
The first gameplay trailer for the game was revealed at Microsoft’s E3 2017 Press Conference and the game is slated for release in 2018 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
