While it had been rumored for a while that Black Ops 4 would not feature a traditional single player campaign, Treyarch isn’t worried that singe player fans will feel left out.
According to Yale Miller, Senior Producer at Treyarch, “We’ll still have opportunities for those players that want to play solo. They’re still gonna be fun. Being able to play solo in Zombies, having difficulty modes in Zombies, I think will be a huge part of that.”
“There is a massive narrative across Zombies. Especially now that you have Nine and Voyage of the Dead…those are tied together narratives. You’re gonna get to experience, like, why are these guys here? What’s going on? Did the Titanic really sink because of the zombies… I thought it was about an iceberg. So there still is a huge narrative experience there.”
Miller also points at the Specialist Missions as a spot where traditional campaign fans will get a dose of the familiar.
“We’re gonna have 10 Specialists at launch, minimum,” says Miller. “Each Specialist has their own mission, that’s something for you to do. Will that be a gateway to MP? I sure hope so. I think that’s something that people will love. How we’re thinking about Zombies and how we’re thinking about the Specialist Missions… there’s absolutely something for you if you’re a solo player.”
“I think there will be something for everyone… The game is MASSIVE.”
