Happy Easter. If you were looking to spend your morning playing any of Blizzard’s games then you’re out of luck because it appears that the developer/publisher is having technical issues today. While reports are mixed as to who and where Blizzard’s services are working for, many have taken to social media to show their issues, error messages, and long wait queues for games like Overwatch, Hearthstone, and others.
Battle.net is currently a shell of its usual self with misplaced graphics and bare bones styling. Which is leading some to believe that this is a DDOS attack on the company servers. Blizzard themselves have taken to Twitter to update users with the following: “The technical issues we mentioned earlier are still being investigated. Further updates in an hour.”
The technical issues that they are talking about were issues they addressed in a separate tweet that said they were having an issue affecting authentication on all servers which will result in failed or slow login attempts.
Not a great day for server downtime as many Blizzard employees are spending Easter Sunday with their families.
We’ll update once things seem to stabilize.
Update: 9:07 AM – Blizzard’s official statement is that game servers have been taken offline to ensure the safety of hardware. They are working to bring services back online.
Update 2: According to Blizzard Login Issues Have Been Resolved.
