The Xbox One Backwards Compatibility list has been expanding at a steady pace as of late. However, most of the new additions come from the fringes of gaming. Smaller titles, usually indie or arcade style games have been added pretty regularly. The occasional AAA mega hit will make its way to the service, but it happens rarely, and is usually cause for celebration. Fans have a lot to celebrate today with the release of the Xbox 360 classic Call of Duty 2 on Xbox One Backwards Compatibility.

Surprisingly, this is only the second Call of Duty title to make it to Xbox One Backwards Compatibility. Black Ops was the first, and was easily one of the most requested games for the feature. Since it hit a few months ago fans have mostly been satisfied with the availability, but adding CoD2 is a pretty nice cherry on top.

Xbox One Backwards Compatibility lets you play old Xbox 360 titles on your Xbox One. They are upgraded somewhat, but usually not to a big enough degree to warrant mention. Instead the point is simply convenience, with longtime Xbox fans able to play all their favorite games on one single console.

If you owned Call of Duty 2 digitally for Xbox 360 then you can go ahead and download it onto your Xbox One. If you have the disc, just insert it in and the system should download it automatically.
