The Call of Duty series’ Zombies mode has been a fan-favorite for almost as long as it’s existed. Part of that popularity is due to Call of Duty’s solid shooting mechanics,  but it’s also safe to say that its fun and campy stories are just as responsible. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Zombies will be continuing series tradition with a story of its own; details of which have finally been revealed in a brand new story trailer.

This time around, the story will be following the exploits of Scarlett Rhodes and her companions as they work to solve the mystery behind her father’s disappearance. Based on what’s seen here, the story appears to begin on the Titanic, but it doesn’t stay there. The intrepid adventurers soon find themselves on a journey through time, the outcome of which will apparently determine the fate of the world.

It also seems players will have quite a variety of weapons at their disposal this time around too. There are the standard weapons seen in most of the previous games: shotguns, assault rifles, pistols, knives, etc. but there appear to be several exotic weapons to choose from as well. In particular, the trailer shows-off some sort of beam weapon, an enchanted shotgun, a snake blade, some sort of magic grenade, a staff that creates a safe zone, a magic hammer, and a magic chakram among a few others. A couple of new enemies show-up as well, including a lanky behemoth type of zombie and a zombie tiger.

It appears Treyarch is aiming to make Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Zombies the mode’s biggest and most bombastic iteration yet, while still retaining the mode’s campy tone. This is a good thing since Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 does not have a single-player campaign this time around and is changing the Call of Duty formula up in several other areas. Keeping Zombies mode close to its roots should help make the other changes more palatable.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 releases on October 12 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
