Call of Duty: WWII Spends a Third Week on Top of UK Charts

This week’s United Kingdom sales charts has the same protagonist as the previous two: Activision’s Call of Duty: WWII, which has resisted the debuts of multiple releases including Need for Speed Payback and now Star Wars: Battlefront 2, which debuts at number 2 with 60% less physical sales than the first entry. And while EA’s game is the biggest release of the week, the proximity with the end of the year has provided with a long list of interesting new entries.

Nintendo’s Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon for 3DS enter the charts at number 4 and number 5 respectivelly. The games have pulled numbers 74% below the original entries last year, understandable in part for their nature as extended experiences rather than brand new entries. Compared to Pokemon Black and White 2, they were actually up 32.4%. Also, for those wondering, the games would have charted at number 3 if sales of Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon were combined.

The Sims 4 debuts at number 7, while L.A. Noire Remastered enters the list at number 8. However, the latter’s multiplatform release has helped to mask its lackluster performance in each separate platform, as in the Individual Formats list the game occupies number 17 (PS4), 27 (Xbox One), and 36 (Nintendo Switch).

Another game that returns this week is The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, with new editions for PlayStation VR and Nintendo Switch. In this case the VR version debuts higher, at number 19, while the Switch port enters at 26. The launch of Skyrim VR not only became the third biggest debut of the platform (below Sony’s PSVR Worlds and Farpoint), but also helped selling more units of the VR headset, as evidenced by the rise in sales of PSVR Worlds this week.
