2K and Firaxis have announced that those who purchased the Civilization VI Digital Deluxe edition will be receiving additional DLC at no extra charge. Three new leaders and two new civilizations will be added to the game “in the coming months”. According to the announcement, this new content is aimed at making the special edition feel like a better value than it ended up being.
“It’s important to us that wherever Civilization fans live around the world, that the Digital Deluxe edition provides a great value. We saw that prices with certain currencies didn’t live up to the savings we’re looking to deliver, and so we are excited to offer this new content at no additional charge to those who purchase, or already own, the Civilization VI Digital Deluxe edition.”
So, what is this new content? Two new Civilization & Scenario Packs will be added to the game that bring with them three new leaders. These will be based around Africa and Southeast Asia.
If this all sounds good to you, as it should, then you’re in luck. The Civilization VI Digital Deluxe edition is currently on sale on Steam, with a 33% discount bringing the price down to $53.59. This is only $13 more than the standard edition, which is currently set at $40.19.
The Digital Deluxe edition comes with the base game, the 25th Anniversary soundtrack, as well as the DLC packs available for the game. These include a lot of new civilizations and leaders that add to the experience. With each pack costing $5 or more, the Deluxe edition is definitely a bargain, if you are the type of gamer who needs every single piece of content.
Civilization VI made some pretty significant changes to the long running series. Alterations to how cities work was probably the biggest. Final review were positive though, so the changes seem to be for the better.
