The United Kingdom keeps riding on nostalgia with Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy staying a second week as the highest selling videogame in the country. The remake had a steep 78% drop from its debut, which is in line with other big releases like Uncharted 4 last year. That said, its numbers should stay more stable through the summer, thanks to its appeal to the younger demographic and the lack of many big releases.
This second week at number 1 seems like it’s making up for the fact that none of the games of the original trilogy reached the top back in the day.
Crash took advantage of the fact that there was not a single new videogame release this week in the top 40, which left all previous games the opportunity to remain stable in their positions. The ever-selling Grand Theft Auto V, for example, jumped one position to second place in the All Formats list. Overwatched got a bigger boost, rising from number 6 to number 3. Last week’s new entry at number 2 Micro Machines: World Series drops to number 5, and Battlefield 1 has a major bump from closing the top 20 to number 6.
Beyond the top 10, recent price drops on certain Square Enix games have propelled Hitman: The Complete First Season to return to the top 40 at number 16, and Deus Ex: Human Revolution to number 27.
