Crypt of the Necrodancer is easily one of the best indie games to hit in the last few years. Garnering massive praise and building a rabid fanbase, the game is excellent and everyone has been waiting for more from the team that made it. Today, during Nintendo’s Nindies presentation, the announcement was finally made, and it’s pretty big. Called Cadence of Hyrule, this new game is set within the world of both Crypt of the Necrodancer and The Legend of Zelda, and it’s coming to Nintendo Switch in Spring 2019.
Not much detailed info was shared in the short video that closed the Nindies Showcase, but it’s pretty clear that this is a very interesting mashup of the two series. Crypt of the Necrodancer drew a lot of inspiration from the Legend of Zelda series, among many others, so this mashup is a perfect fit for both. Cadence of Hyrule seems to be set after the events of the first game, with the protagonist emerging from the dungeon to find themselves in the land of Hyrule.
Players look to be able to control either the regular character or Link and Zelda from Nintendo’s venerated series. Featuring new areas to explore and enemies to fight, this seems like a great sequel to Crypt while also serving as a new spinoff for the Zelda series. Be sure to check back soon as more info about the game is revealed ahead of its Sprin 2019 launch on Nintendo Switch.
