After the announcement of Dark Souls II: Scholar Of The First Sin for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, many fans thought that publisher Namco Bandai and developer From Software forgot about the last gen version that made many ‘Best Of’ lists for 2014. Thankfully that can be put to bed with the announcement of the Scholar Of The First Sin update coming to PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC in early February.
The anticipated update will add an array of new aspects to the already deeply difficult and yet satisfying RPG. Players will be able to interact with an all-new NPC that will reveal a new path for players in Dark Souls II. Access to a new item is available through the Scholar Of The First Sin content, the Agape Ring. When equipped it allows for players to collect souls during online within the ring instead of directly to the player. There is also a new covenant to enter, the Covenant Of Champions, which members will have the benefit of enemies respawning once slain. This makes all those farming areas that much easier. They have also listed several matchmaking improvements in the update as well:
• The bonfire warp selection screen will now highlight the top three areas where players will have the best chance to connect with other players online.
• White phantoms will remain in other players’ worlds for longer periods of time. Also, white phantoms will no longer return to their world if time runs out during a boss battle.
• Other improvements to the matchmaking system will help players connect and enjoy Dark Souls II online.
Dark Souls II: Scholar Of The First Sin update will be available on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC on February 5th. It will also be available as a retail package with the full Dark Souls II game and the three DLC packs as Dark Souls II: Scholar Of The First Sin for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC on April 7th 2015.
