Destiny to see visual upgrade on Xbox One with new SDK

Recommended Videos

The June SDK for the Xbox One is said to give developers more GPU bandwidth, up to 10% more. Apparently, games even as close as this fall will take full advantage of this additional power. According to Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, Bungie will make use of the new power to increase the resolution for their upcoming game, Destiny, on the Xbox One.

Even our friends at Bungie… I’ve been spending a lot of time over there… they’re gonna pick up the June SDK update for Destiny and they are gonna up the resolution of Destiny based on this change,” transcribed by the Destiny blog.

Spencer’s comments come from the latest edition of the Major Nelson podcast. This is great news for Xbox One owners. If Destiny’s can get a performance boost, other games will likely enjoy the same benefits going forward.

Perhaps this is the last we’ve heard of resolution disparities between the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One?
