Destiny: The Taken King certainly looks like a fantastic new addition to the game, adding an epic storyline and a ton of additional content. However, the expansion is currently embroiled in controversy due to its many exclusive items, mainly associated with the Collector’s Edition of the game. It looks like things will only be getting worse for fans that want every piece of content though as Red Bull has unveiled the Destiny Edition Red Bull can, which features an exclusive XP boost, as well as an entire mission set.
The two things earned by buying a Destiny Edition Red Bull can are Focused Light, a one-time consumable that gives a 50% boost to XP earned over a 30 minute period, and a new, never-before-seen, multi-stage mission within The Taken King.
Thankfully the mission is just timed exclusives, being added to the game on January 1st, 2016 for everyone who doesn’t grab a Red Bull. However, the XP boosts are a bit troubling, essentially making it so those that purchase a ton of Red Bull can jump ahead of those that don’t.
Multiple codes can be used, though only one at a time, giving players a chance to have a constant 50% boost to their XP if they save up enough cans, or just drink a whole lot of Red Bull. The codes will expire on July 31st, 2016 giving players a whole lot of time to save up and boost their character.
Destiny: The Taken King launches on September 15th, 2015.
