Bandai Namco surprised us earlier this year with the announcement of a new Dragon Ball Z related RPG under an unofficial name, which was later revealed at E3 as Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. Considering what had been shown of the game so far and past trends, most figured the game would end at the Frieza Saga. However, the brand new Gamescom trailer for Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot has revealed that the game extends through at least the Cell Saga.
While the focus of the game is definitely Goku considering the name, Gohan was the true star of the Cell Saga as the one to finally take down Cell. This trailer shows that Gohan is definitely going to get the focus he deserves, while also maintaining the father/son relationship that will play a major part in the game.
With this announcement also came the news that both Teen Gohan and Trunks would be playable in the game as well, which is always great to hear in any Dragon Ball game. These are two fan favorites, so they pretty much had to with the extension through the Cell Saga.
Not only are we getting all the classic fights in the Cell Saga as seen in the trailer, but we also learned that the hilarious driving episode from the series will play a part in the game, where Goku and Piccolo both learn to drive. Sadly, it appears they won’t be wearing the casual clothing they donned in the anime, but we’ll take what we can get.
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot will release for PS4, Xbox One, and PC sometime in early 2020.
