During all the craziness of E3 SEGA shared some new gameplay footage from Yakuza 0, which is the prequel game that is set before the events of the first game. Unsurprisingly, the footage looks great and you can check it out for yourself at the bottom of this post.
The game takes place in 1988 and has protagonists Kazuma Kiryu and Goro Majima getting wrapped up in a terrible event called “The Vacant Lot.” The event is essentially a major part of a power struggle for the many dark organizations across Japan, and Kiryu and Goro decide to find out the truth and maintain their own innocence by investigating the incident.
While Yakuza 0 is on the horizon, there are a couple of other games in the series coming, as well. A remake of the first game called Yakuza: Kiwami is out in Japan and does not yet have a Western release date, and Yakuza 6 is set to launch in Q3/Q4 in Japan.
Yakuza 0 is set to launch exclusively for PlayStation 4 in early 2017, and you can check out the new E3 trailer for it below.
