Mortal Kombat X first released over a year ago and has received two Kombat Packs full of four DLC characters each, as well as Mortal Kombat XL that provided these characters and previously released costumes in one package. We might have thought Kombat Pack 2 was it for the game, but it sounds like there is a possibility we may get even more in the future.
NetherRealm Studios’ Ed Boon is known for his penchant to trolling with his Twitter page, but he also gives out a lot of good teases and details there as well. The latest came in the form of a very interesting poll that may seem to tease some future plans.
This poll had him asking simply “Next?” with the choices of Kombat Pack 3, MK11, and a Shaolin Monks sequel. It’s obviously a little too soon for MK11, but the other two are very possibly options.
After over 13,000 votes, the poll has been closed with Kombat Pack 3 coming in first with 44%, with Shaolin Monks sequel at 31%, and MK11 at 25%.
There have been reports in the past that NetherRealm was in the process of working on a sequel to Injustice: Gods Among Us, but whether that is true or not, it appears Boon is still focusing on bringing more Mortal Kombat content.
Obviously, this isn’t a surefire indication of anything, but the fact that Boon would bother to ask it would seem to indicate they have some plans. Hopefully this is just from a smaller team and an Injustice sequel is on the way, but I know I’d certain purchase any of these three, especially a Kombat Pack 3 to add onto the already excellent Mortal Kombat X.
