Independent developer Sushee Games has informed today that they have finally completed the development of Fear Effect Sedna, the tactical-action game which continues the story of the classic adventure series Fear Effect. The game, coming to PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC this 2018, is being published by Square Enix Collective after they pitched the idea to the Japanese entertainment giant. It certainly presents a vastly different approach to the classic Fear Effect gameplay, but it could still get the support from the fans considering its respect for the original artstyle and its effort on continuing the story.
The announcement has been made on the official Twitter account of the series, which has posted a picture of the developer team celebrating and a message that said: “Development on Fear Effect Sedna is completely finished! More news coming soon.” It is indeed expected that we get more news including release date and more gameplay footage very shortly.
Here is the official synopsis of the game: “Fear Effect Sedna is set four years after the events of the original Fear Effect game, and things have changed for the team. Hana, freed from the Triad, lives with Rain in Hong Kong and works as an occasional mercenary, while Deke has grown apart from them since Glas returned to the US.
Hana accepts a small mission for a shadowy organization asking for her services. Her target: a mysterious ancient statuette held by the Chinese ambassador in France. She sees it as a good opportunity to visit her birthplace… But this ‘easy’ mission is about to lead Hana to something way bigger than she expected. Meanwhile Glas is approached by a client who catches his attention enough that he soon sets out for Greenland. How will these events bring the old team back together?”
If getting a continuation of the series wasn’t enough, Fear Effect fans are also anticipating more news of the remake of the original Fear Effect announced last summer, which is also being developed by Sushee Games and focused on updating the graphics and gameplay mechanics, although it will remain faithful to the original experience.
Fear Effect Sedna will launch this year for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
