Final Fantasy 15 is available for both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, which means that owners of both consoles need to decide which platform they will be taking their next RPG adventure on. That’s why Digital Foundry is good to have around, as they’ll test all available versions of a particular game and let you know in detail the pros and cons of each.
They have done a separate video for both the PS4 and Xbox One versions of Final Fantasy 15, and they each have their pros and cons that you’ll need to take note of. First of all, the PlayStation 4 version obviously has the better resolution seeing as PS4 is capable of 1080p compared to Xbox One’s 900p. However, the PS4 version does have frame rate issues, which are even worse on the PS4 Pro in certain instances.
Interestingly, the Xbox One version does not have any major frame rate issues to speak of, with it holding the targeted 30fps very consistently. There are certain instances where the frame rate will drop, but it typically only drops down to around 27fps and very briefly.
You can check out both of the Digital Foundry videos that analyze the performances of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Final Fantasy 15 below.
