Final Fantasy XV Demo Will See Very Limited Run

by Dean James

Earlier this year, it was revealed that Square Enix was finally bringing Final Fantasy Type-0 to the US through an HD remake on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. That news was good enough for fans, but they took it another step further by revealing that the game would also include a playable demo for Final Fantasy XV, one of the most anticipated games of all since its original reveal in 2006 as Final Fantasy Versus XIII. However, it appears the demo for Final Fantasy XV will be quite limited.

Within the blog post that announced the Final Fantasy Type-0 HD Collector’s Edition that we told you about last night, it was revealed that only the first run copies of Final Fantasy Type-0 will be coming with the demo for Final Fantasy XV.

“First, as Tabata-san said in a recent episode of Square Enix Presents, this demo is exclusive to Final Fantasy Type-0 HD. We’re never going to release it as a stand-alone piece down the line. Secondly, it’s intended to be a special gift for those of you who purchase early — the demo will be limited to the “Day One” edition of the game, meaning that only the first shipment is going to have the demo in it. So if the demo is something you think you might like, we highly encourage you to pre-order or to be quick about getting to the store on launch day, March 17th, 2015.”

This is pretty disappointing for those that may have planned on getting the game later, but now gamers will have to look to get the game around launch to guarantee themselves a copy of the demo, especially with the news that it won’t be available by other means later.
