Final Fantasy XV has seemingly been in development forever, initially being titled Final Fantasy Versus XIII. We seem to be finally nearing a possible release before the end of 2016 hopefully and while they have been hush hush about specific release dates, it sounds like we may be getting some very soon.
According to a report from Nova Crystallis, the upcoming issue of Famitsu teases some announcements involving Final Fantasy XV, courtesy of Square Enix CEO Yosuke Matsuda.
Back in January, we heard that Final Fantasy XV game director Hajime Tabata revealed that they were aiming for a simultaneous worldwide release. According to this report about Famitsu, Matsuda echoes this sentiment, saying that they are still aiming for a global launch for Final Fantasy XV. Nova Crystallis is pretty reliable in the Final Fantasy community, so I would lean towards believing this info to be legitimate.
The more intriguing news is that Matsuda mentions more details on that global release will be shared soon. With details of Final Fantasy XV having a major presence at Gamescom next month, could that be the setting to give us a release date finally?
The other option here could be TGS in a few months, as Final Fantasy XV had a solid showing there last year. Either way, if an announcement is coming soon, hopefully the release won’t be too far away. I don’t think there is any way the game could come in 2015, but a Spring 2016 release could be possible.
