Final Fantasy VII was just announced as coming to the PlayStation 4 this past weekend, though just in its original state. This was pretty disappointing after Square Enix has shown it was willing to remaster old games in the series in HD, as we saw Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD brought to the PlayStation 3 earlier this year. Now, it appears that very remaster may be making its way to the PlayStation 4 as well.
While not officially announced in any capacity, a listing and boxart for Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD for PlayStation 4 popped up yesterday on the French version of Square Enix’s webstore. This is far from the random listing on a foreign website or even Amazon. The listing was spotted by Gematsu and came complete with an image for the boxart.
Not too long after the listing was spotted, the listing was completely removed from the website. However, the image can still be found in the Google Cache. When asked by IGN about the previously up link, Square Enix only responded by saying “”We are looking into this matter and have no comment at this time.”
Even better is that the listing says the game is set to release in Spring 2015, so the game sounds like it will be coming out pretty soon if this listing does turn out to be real, which is pretty likely considering it was on the official website, complete with boxart.
For those that already purchased Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD on PlayStation 3 last spring, will you be double dipping on this one or just going to stay satisfied with the last-gen version?
