During today’s Nintendo Direct presentation, a number of upcoming Switch and 3DS games were announced and discussed. One of these games was Kirby Star Allies, which is set to release next week. As the game’s release closes in, today’s Nintendo Direct treated us to the announcement of the game’s first update, set for a couple of weeks after the game’s release.

The Kirby Star Allies announcement during this Nintendo Direct started off by discussing the inclusion of Dream Palaces, where Kirby can make more significant characters his Dream Friends. Potential Dream Friends include the fan favorites Meta Knight, King Dedede and Bandana Waddle Dee, who are all more powerful than the normal enemies Kirby can befriend in the game. It was then revealed that more Dream Friends will be added to the game via free updates in the future. The first of these updates will include the characters Rick, Kine and Coo, from Kirby’s Dream Land 2, Marx, from Kirby Super Star, and Gooey, from Kirby’s Dream Land 3. This free update will become available on March 28. Kirby Star Allies is set to launch on the Switch next Friday, March 16.
