After parting ways with Square Enix in May, Hitman developer IO Interactive has announced that the first section of the popular stealth game will be available for free on all platforms. This is the perfect time to jump in and try it out if you have ever been interested.
Though the future of the Hitman series was in question, just last week studio CEO Hakan Abrak shared the news that IO Interactive became an independent studio and retained the rights to the Hitman IP.
“I am proud to announce today that IOI is now officially an independent studio. We have successfully concluded our negotiations with Square Enix and have agreed to a management buyout. Crucially, we will keep all of the rights to the Hitman IP,” Abrak said in the announcement.
Now the company is releasing the beginning of Hitman for free, letting players take on the ICA Facility with two story missions and dozens of challenges. Should you choose to go on and purchase the full game, your progress will carry over. And if you need another reason to pick up Hitman, the complete first season is currently on sale for 60% off.
“I’m proud to announce that our first hello as an independent studio is to invite all gamers to play the beginning of Hitman for free,” said Abrak. “There is a lot of love out there for Hitman and with this offering we hope that many more will fall in love with the game. We believe that this is Hitman at its best. So jump in and give a try.”
You can download the game on your platform of choice here.
