Flight attendant shares the innocent passenger habit that actually drives crew members crazy, and you’re probably guilty

Something doesn't add up, though

Working as a flight attendant comes with many challenges. The job means spending long hours standing up, dealing with tough schedules, handling difficult people, and suffering from jet lag. All of this can wear someone down both physically and mentally. When passengers behave badly, even without meaning to, it makes things much harder for the crew.

According to Bro Bible, Charity Moore, a flight attendant based in New Jersey, decided to make a TikTok video about this problem. She has worked in the industry for 11 years and has built up a following of 24,000 people on the platform. Moore, who was also a contestant on Survivor Season 48, shared a list of things passengers do that really annoy flight attendants. But the video did not go over well with viewers, and she ended up deleting it after getting a lot of negative comments.

The main thing Moore wanted passengers to stop doing was using the call button just to get rid of their garbage. She pointed out that when flight attendants come over after someone presses the button, they are not carrying a trash bag or wearing gloves. “We do come through the aisle every 10 minutes with a bag and typically have gloves on,” Moore explained. “So, please don’t press that call bell for your random piece of trash. Just hold onto it. We’ll pick it up.”

People who fly a lot strongly disagreed with her timing

The part about flight attendants walking through every 10 minutes got a lot of pushback from people who travel often. Many said they almost never see crew members coming by that frequently on their flights. Someone with Delta Diamond status wrote that they have never been on a flight where anyone walks through every 10 minutes, and they feel lucky if it happens twice during the whole trip. Another frequent flyer with top status on two different airlines said the same thing.

Moore brought up some other complaints too. She talked about how passengers sometimes do not respond when flight attendants greet them while boarding.

“When it’s 4am, you come on board, and I say, ‘Good morning. Welcome aboard,’ and you just ignore me like I didn’t even speak. That is so rude, and it hurts our feelings,” she said in her video. This isn’t the first time flight attendants have shared surprising insights about air travel.

@charitynelms

It hasn’t happened in a few years so I was due for the ol get stuck in a random city, in a random airport while flying standby. As flight attendants we have HUGE perks of flying any airline for free, but let me tell you the world is balanced and we absolutely pay the price. You’re not tired, I’m tired. 🥴😴

Another problem she mentioned was people doing stretches in the galley, which is the small kitchen area where flight attendants prepare food and drinks. Moore said the space is very limited there, and passengers should not just walk back and start doing yoga without asking first. Many viewers got upset about this complaint though.

They said passengers are stuck in cramped seats too, and some people need to stretch because of medical issues. Several commenters said they are always careful to be respectful of the crew’s space when they stretch.

Moore also said passengers should stop asking if they will make their connecting flights. She admitted that flight attendants usually cannot answer this question. “Honestly, I have no idea, but I wish you good luck and all of the best,” Moore told viewers. “I have no clue. Sometimes, I’ve never even been to this airport.” While crew members deal with various passenger concerns, pilots have also revealed other concerning truths about flying.

Not everyone disagreed with Moore though. Some people watching the video said all of her points made sense and were reasonable things to be annoyed about. Others asked her to make another video showing the good things passengers do that flight attendants appreciate. Before Moore took the video down, it had been watched 157,000 times.
