Microsoft has announced today the release of a new free update for Forza Horizon 3 that makes the racing game compatible with advanced graphic features such as native 4K resolution, improved textures, and more, on Xbox One X. The new upgraded visuals can be seen in a new trailer that Microsoft has shared online, which showcases the enhancements that have been made in order to take advantage of the extra power of the console. The update will also affect the Blizzard Mountain and Hot Wheels expansions.

The most recent game of the franchise, Forza Motorsport 7, was one of the main draws to the company’s new powerful revision of the Xbox One, as it was specifically designed to take advantage of the extra power of the platform. Taking that into consideration, it makes sense that the update for Horizon 3 has come a little bit later, as the company would have wanted new customers to focus on purchasing the most recent game along with the new console.

The update will go live today at 10 AM PST, and some of the graphic improvements will be noticed on aspects like car reflections, shadow resolutions, texture detail for roads and terrain surfaces. It sounds like a worthy addition to anyone who has a 4K TV and an Xbox One, making a good case for anyone to revisit the game if they purchased it earlier, or buy it now if they have got a new Xbox One X.

Here’s an official overview of the game: “In Forza Horizon 3, you’re in charge of the Horizon Festival. Customize everything, hire and fire your friends, and explore Australia in over 350 of the world’s greatest cars, including the debut of the 2017 Lamborghini Centenario. Make your Horizon the ultimate celebration of cars, music, and freedom of the open road. How you get there is up to you.”

Forza Horizon 3 is out now for Xbox One and PC. Watch the new trailer below.
