Actor Doug Cockle, the voice behind The Witcher’s Geralt of Rivia, admits that to his knowledge there is no fourth game of the series in the works at this moment. He has said so today during a panel at EGX 2017 in London, where he was asked about his future as the character. As far as he knows, CD Projekt is dedicating all their resources into Cyberpunk 2077, the futuristic open-world game that the company has been developing for years now.
Cockle’s response when he was asked about playing the voice of Geralt for another entry was: “I know nothing about The Witcher 4.” However, he didn’t rule out continuing working with CD Projekt, revealing that in fact, there might be a way for him to make a special appearance on Cyberpunk 2077: “What I have discussed is the idea of me being involved somehow. Whether that’s a major part or just an easter egg. I hope so, I really enjoy working with them. But I haven’t had significant contact. We have jokingly talked about it.”
It seems like fans of the series will have to rely on the card game Gwent or the upcoming The Witcher TV show in the works at Netflix, although considering the popularity of the brand reached during this generation, it wouldn’t be surprising to see CD Projekt confirming the development of a new entry at some point in the future.
