A Gamescom trailer from last month that showed GTA V gave Grand Theft Auto fans some hope that new information was on the way about the highly anticipated open world title.  This rumor had apparently been corroborated by a LinkedIn profile that also hinted at Rockstar attending the show.

According to a statement by the event organizers, this LinkedIn profile is not from someone that would know such details, in other words, its a fake.  Gerald Bauser led gamers and journalists to believe that not only was Rockstar to reveal GTA V, but a new Table Tennis title as well.  Furthermore, he listed new projects from Valve Software, to stir the pot even more.

It does pose the question of why in an official trailer for the show, would the organizers include a clip from the reveal trailer of GTA V? In other words, it’s still an outside possibility that Rockstar show something at Gamescom, but why all the secrecy?

Over the weekend, one of our readers pointed us to a listing on the EB Games Expo website, that also listed Rockstar as an exhibitor for the Sydney showcase.  Hours after our story was published, Rockstar was removed from the listing.
