If you’re a Grand Theft Auto fan, the mystery surrounding GTA V and the silence from Rockstar has been a hard pill to swallow. After a November ’11 reveal of the game, Rockstar has been characteristically quiet about the game. The GTA V silence has been for good reason however, according to Rockstar Games.

“We often have long gaps between asset releases,” said Rockstar in a recent Q&A session. “We do it because we want to keep back plenty for the actual game release so there are still lots of surprises when you play it.”

The Grand Theft Auto franchise has established a pretty standard template when it comes to gameplay devices. Sure, the game has been tinkered with, tweaked, and improved in many facets, but its hard to see Rockstar making many changes to the game’s core structure.

“The only things we care about are that you enjoy the experience of actually playing the game,” the developer continued. Apparently that does not include outing every small detail about the game leading up to release. The developer did however reveal two new screenshots that don’t reveal any juicy new information about the game. Though they definitely indicate that GTA V will see improved visuals from GTA IV.
