Nintendo Switch owners will be excited to hear that Arc System Works and PQube are bringing the cult-classic fighting game series Guilty Gear to the system. The Guilty Gear 20th Anniversary Edition will launch on May 17, and it will be available on a Nintendo console for the first time.
The 20th Anniversary Edition comes bundled with two games, the original Guilty Gear, and Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R. The original game in the series is a bit rough to play by today standards, but it set the tone for how Arc would upgrade their fighting games for years to come. Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R, which is an unusually long name, is an amalgamation of the Guilty Gear titles with all of the updates since the beginning.
In addition, PQube is also planning a special Guilty Gear 20th Anniversary Pack for the Switch which comes packed with a “Artists design multi-pouch” which is more or less main protagonist Sol Badguys signature pouch copied straight from the game. It will also contain a “Unaired Drafts Collection” a special compilation of art works that were previously unreleased. It’s important to note that the 20th Anniversary Pack has been announced for every region except North America. Instead both games will be released digitally, and as of this writing, their are no plans to release the pack in the Americas.
