Hideki Kamiya has had quite an impressive career in gaming over the years, bringing us great games like Wonderful 101, Viewtiful Joe, Okami, and Bayonetta, just to name a few. He is currently busy finishing up the highly anticipated Scalebound for Xbox One and Windows 10, but that isn’t stopping him from dreaming.

With Scalebound having a presence at E3 with Microsoft, Kamiya was of course on hand for the festivities where he participated in interviews, including with Polygon. When they asked him about the potential of a Bayonetta 3, he had the following to say.

“To answer your question straightly, yes. It’s actually something I’ve been thinking a lot about. We’ve talked a lot about it internally at the company and I’ve written some outlines for what the game would be. And I feel really confident it would be cool if we got the chance to make it. Right now, we’re looking at opportunities… If that opportunity ever came up to make Bayonetta 3, that would be really, really cool.”

The topic of a Bayonetta 3 also came up in an interview with Metro, but the more intriguing thing in that interview was about another masterpiece he directed with Okami. After talking about Bayonetta he said “I’ve got ideas in my head for Okami 2 as well.”

Comments like these are incredibly exciting to hear for someone that loves both games. Okami holds a special place in my heart personally and I would love to see that series continue in some way, but some rights issues would have to be sorted out more than likely. However, we can keep dreaming like Kamiya and hopefully something will eventually happen.
