It has now been officially confirmed that the Wii U exclusive Hyrule Warriors has sold over 1 million copies.

Hyrule Warriors shipped over 1 million copies a few months ago, but now people actually started to buy the game. This was confirmed via the latest financial report from Koei Tecmo.

Koei Tecmo also confirmed that Hyrule Warriors’ DLC has been selling very well too. The game itself is still selling at a healthy rate as well. The game now joins several other Wii U games that have sold over 1 million copies worldwide.

Because of the success of Hyrule Warriors, there is a chance Koei Tecmo could be working on a sequel of sorts. The company announced they are already working on two new IPs and one other “big” collaboration. It’s unknown at this time what this collaboration will be at the moment.

Hyrule Warriors was a unique experiment as it was a Legend of Zelda themed Dynasty Warriors game. It will be interesting if we see other Dynasty Warriors style games based on other licensed properties.

The fact that Hyrule Warriors and its DLC is still selling well 8 months after the game came out is also impressive. Maybe Koei Tecmo will share more of its plans at E3 2015.
