Kingdom Hearts fans were promised big things at D23 Expo this weekend and Square Enix delivered. Not only did it offer firm confirmation that Kingdom Hearts 3 will launch in 2018, but we even got a new trailer showing off a new world that Sora, Donald and Goofy will visit on their adventure: Toy Story.

Toy Story joins Tangled, Big Hero 6 and Olympus Colosseum (Hercules) as the worlds revealed thus far in Kingdom Hearts 3. It has been around since the series began, but never got featured as one of the worlds players got to visit (though, to be fair, it wasn’t possible until 2006 when Pixar was actually purchased by Disney). Square Enix and Disney sought to change that in Kingdom Hearts 3 and based on the reaction during the stream, its inclusion is more than welcome.

As one might expect, Sora, Donald and Goofy all become toys when they’re in the world of Toy Story and they’re joined by none other than Woody and Buzz Lightyear as they search for their friends who disappeared from Andy’s bedroom when the Heartless arrived.

Just because they’re toys, doesn’t mean they can’t fight, however. The gameplay trailer shows Sora unleashing a devastating array of attacks on a myriad of foes and even hijacking toy robots to use on their former allies. One interesting thing of note is that Sora had -aga spells in the trailer, so unless they’re using a unique build for the demo, then Toy Story will be one of the later worlds that players will visit in the story.

Kingdom Hearts 3 will launch for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2018.
